As a SCD (Sickle Cell Disease) patient its vital that your body is functioning at its highest. This begins with getting the most nutrients are bodies need in order to reduce crisis. Following is Dr. Ware’s dietary guide:
HYDRATION: (Should be a mix daily that includes water, brewed unsweetened teas, electrolyte-enriched drinks. NOT GATORADE, POWERADE OR ANYTHING WITH ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, COLORS OR DYES!!!)
Prefer green tea, oolong, etc. pH water of 8 can be consumed. Daily (approx. 32 – 40 oz. daily for a nonactive patient). Active patients can add 20 oz. to this amount during heavy, hot, and long workouts.

|Avoid any roasted nuts or snacks. Roasting produces too much sugar in the nut.|

QUINOA PASTA CAN BE AN OPTION FOR PASTA OR SPAGHETTI SQUASH
MILLET, BARLEY, OATS, BUCKWHEAT ARE ACCEPTABLE GRAINS.
A green juice that consists of kale, beet tops, cucumber, spinach, green apple, ½ of a lemon, coconut water, tablespoon of hemp oil should be consumed twice daily at 8 oz per serving. This will be done for 5 weeks.
